Proactive order consolidation is a procurement strategy that aims to reduce the total cost of logistics and inventory. This project deals with issues related to the procurement process' organization (e.g., Who decides? When? For what orders?), information (e.g., data availability and reliability), technology (e.g., decision-support systems) and operations (e.g., follow-up and execution). Among the many interesting problem characteristics and challenges, let us mention the variety of products, suppliers and contracts; the types of vehicles and containers, their costs and loading constraints (Project 202); the dynamic evolution of the system; and the need to combine the optimization of new orders and the control and adjustment of previous decisions in the same decisional process.
